Food

  • Food was very good, basically continuously available (i think Pizza was always out from lunch till 9pm at the buffet).

  • In the evening it's a buffet, although they have certain “plates” which they serve up for you and so it’s not just a buffet from a tray. Could sit outside in the evening. I enjoyed this dinner much more than I typically do with buffets, although I would probably prefer table-service, but the food was of a very good quality, so this wouldn’t stop us going back.


Kids Club 

  • Looked super nice, although we didn’t use much because we did most of our activities with Xavi. He went once or twice and was fine although apparently he did throw his dinner on the floor one time...

  • {Added after 2nd visit} Emme was looked after very well in the baby room, often with 1:1 care. Xavi was again still a bit difficult but I think on reflection we should have sent him to the 3-5yr old room (not the toddler room) as the toys would have suited him much better. 


Pool & Amenities

  • One of the best (if not the best) pools we’ve been to. Massive indoor hot tub, nice main pool that is also warm with an awesome outdoor area with nice views. Baby/toddler pool with so much for them to do. Great flume. 

  • Go karts you can drive indoor round the track for 1euro 

  • Bouncy castle etc. outside

  • Very nice modern gym with loads of space and equipment. Nice views...


Other notes

  • Rooms are big, but not necessarily super modern and slightly weird decor choice. But they’re fine and had all the things you want in a family hotel room-layout.

  • The only downside is that the area is a bit dull... we walked down into the town and saw some cows, but not like an amazing plethora of stuff to do. 

  • I would definitely return, but it’s more a place for a long weekend (in my opinion with kids our ages) than a whole week’s vacation.

Märchenhotel Braunwald (CH)

Car-free village - have to take the funicular from Lindthal. They will take you luggage for you and bring to your room, so pretty easy. They send you a pass for all public transport in Glarus so also free.  Food  Good, but not excellent. 3 choices at dinner - generally one meat, fish and vegetarian but one night they did one meat, one veggie and then one vegan, and that was a bit of a flop. Salad buffet was fine, but no real variation. Breakfast buffet was good quality food, but not the most impressive selection. Eggs to order and brought to your table though, which was good.  The dining room is really impressive without any real “bad” tables. All have a view and there’s enough space between tables that it’s not crowded.  After the storytime each evening a train drives the kids into their dining room. Hotel Laurentius Fiss (AT)

  Time from Zurich: 3 hour drive or train to Landeck-Zams and 2 buses up the hill. You could probably find a taxi company to drive you up to Fiss.  https://www.familienhotel-laurentius.com/ Food Good to very good. Lunch buffet was not so exciting/often left-overs from the night before but there was continuous food and cakes in the afternoon were nice.  First table they gave us was right in thoroughfare but they moved us to a nice window table on request  Kids buffet starts at 6 Kids Club  Had a really nice big play area indoors for parents and kids, including small soft play, games consoles and lots of ride-on cars.  Separate kids club without parents.
