Hotel Bär Serfaus (AT)
Time from Zurich: 3 hour drive or train to Landeck-Zams and 2 buses up the hill. You could probably find a taxi company to drive you up to Serfaus. Renting a car to drive there is a bit pointless because the village is car-free.

Good for:
Visiting a really fantastic mountain area with endless things to do with kids
Enjoying the beach club (outdoor pool, large sand play area and trampolines) when the weather is good
Food
We were in the smaller dining room (garden?) by the beach that was really nice and private. The main dining room seemed a bit more hectic
The evening meal is very good. Breakfast buffet was a bit less exciting (fresh omelettes included) and the salad bar wasn’t very exciting, but the quality of the served meal compensated for this.
The bar wasn’t great - a bit dingy and we didn’t have a drink there any evening, we were happier at our table in the restaurant.
Kids buffet starts 18:30, could be a bit of a rush to eat dinner and get kids in bed and be back downstairs for 8pm (last sit-down time for adults)
Kids Club
Has kids not being watched as well as those who are under the supervision of the staff. So lots of kids coming and going. A bit hectic TBH. Small baby corner. Enough toy for kids xavi’s age and cool soft play but it not being clear who was dropped off in the kids club and which kids were just allowed in to play and not made it a bit overwhelming.
Having said that, we took emme after breakfast a few times and she easily got 1:1 care. Xavi was a difficult age. Some of the staff didn’t really seem that good with him, and didn’t really seem to know how to help a 2 year old settle into the club.
On balance, Löwe is probably a much better kids club for small kids (under 4), however Bär has lots of other facilities that make it nicer (technically it’s 5* and Löwe is 4*+)
Pool & Amenities
Great outdoor pool with beach play areas and trampolines
Indoor pool is cool with slide. Although no extensive toddler play area. Temperature-wise main pool is also v warm.
Kev did a good guided e-bike ride (3 of them, ended up doing something more intense than scheduled, he enjoyed)
Sauna and wellness is nice, but in basement so no real wow factor.
Laundry machine available, only one but wasn’t that hard to find a free slot
Worth noting you can use all the facilities of the löwe hotel about 5 minutes away. This includes more kid friendly pool (really fun waterpark) and an enormous soft-play area.
There is a very nice and modern gym.
Recommendations and other Notes
Mogli suits are directly above the smaller 2nd restaurant. Might be possible to ask to eat in that restaurant anyway if you want, but looks like if your room is in that house you’ll get allocated to that restaurant (this restaurant suited us better, smaller but much more space between tables). We were in room 123 and we can recommend this.
Despite kids club negative comments, we would return. There is so much to do with kids in Serfaus that childcare wasn’t really a major concern for us and hopefully next time Xavi is an easier age to drop off for an hour.
